Tinnitus Symptoms
Tinnitus symptoms involve hearing sound when no sound exists. Tinnitus symptoms can include ears ringing, buzzing, roaring, hissing, or other sounds. These sounds can vary in intensity and may be heard in one or both ears. Tinnitus symptoms may be present all of the time, or can come and go.
Tinnitus Causes According to TCM
Ear ringing can have several causes all of which might be diagnoses as tinnitus by Western phycisians:
1. Liver yang floating upward causing tinnitus
Liver yang floating upward can result in high blood pressure, headache, vertigo, and ringing in the ears. If two or more of these conditions exist simultaneously, Liver yang or Liver fire rising in the upper body is a likely cause.
2. Deficiency of Kidney causing tinnitus
Ear ringing is also a symptom of Kidney deficiency. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each organ system is related to an orifice. The Kidneys open to the ears, and Kidney deficiencies can result in diminished hearing, deafness, and tinnitus. Deficinecies such as these are often accompanied by fatigue or concurrent problems with the urinary, reproductive, or nervous systems
3. Dampness in the Gall Bladder Channel causing tinnitus
Tinnitus is often diagnosed when dampness (swelling) effects the Gall Bladder Channel which runs through the ears. Do not confuse this with gall bladder disease, as the gall bladder organ is not associated with this problem.
4. Trauma resulting in tinnitus
Ear ringing caused by exposure to loud noises or physical trauma can last a lifetime and be diagnosed as tinnitus.
