What are Lice?
Lice are parasitic insects that can feed on the blood of any warm blooded creature. An infestation of lice in human beings is known as pediculosis humanus. Most commonly, lice infest the scalp. This is called pediculosis humanus capitis or head lice. Head lice are spread through contact. Infestation is common on young children and their families.
Itching is the most common symptom of headlice. Excessive scratching can cause open sores, which have been known to become infected.
Preventing Lice
A sanitary environment and hot water laundering will help prevent an outbreak of lice. Examination of the scalp with a louse comb allows detection at an early stage. Early diagnosis reduces the possibility of infesting others. Where louse infestations are common, parents should perform weekly examinations of their children.
Killing Lice with Herbs

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Most conveniently done before bedtime. Boil entire contents in 5 cups of water in a non-alluminum and non iron container. Stainless steel, glass, or ceramic containers are OK. Adjust flame or cover so that 2 cups of liquid remain after a half hour.
Stir occasionally, and watch pot to prevent boiling over. After 30 minutes, strain out herbs, and allow liquid to cool to room or body temperature. Apply liquid generously to soak the hair and scalp. Then cover hair with shower cap or towel. Allow liquid to soak overnight. In the morning wash hair with ordinary shampoo, and comb out dead lice and nits with a fine tooth comb. Repeat if necessary.
NOTE: Be sure to take all other precautions such as removing and laundering clothes and bedding. Though this product most often works on the first application, a second application can often help to prevent recurrence
