Erythema and scales appear continuously, expanding and spreading throughout the skin of the body. The lesions are flushed and swollen. The scales are easily shed when scratched. Itching is sometimes intense.
Generalized symptoms may include aversion to heat, restlessness,
thirst, a bitter taste in the mouth, sore throat, slight
fever, constipation, and yellow and scanty urination. The
tongue is reddened or dark red with a thin yellow or white
coating, and the pulse is rapid and taut or slippery.
