BA ZHEN TANG
This formula is a combination of two base formulas, SI WU TANG to build blood, and SI JUN ZI TANG to strengthen QI. QI and Blood are always together. QI builds Blood, and Blood is the Mother of the QI. This combination works especially well, because the four Spleen tonics (SI JUN ZI) aid in the digestion of the blood tonic (SI WU), which is difficult to digest. This allows the body to absorb more from the herbs. Though BA ZHEN TANG is most often used by women of childbearing age, it can be taken by both men and women as a general tonic.
BA ZHEN TANG comes from Cataloged Essentials for Correcting the Body by Zheng Ti Lei Yao. It was published in 1529 by Bi Li-zhai. Do not confuse this formula, BA ZHEN WAN with BA ZHENG TANG (WAN). The two are vastly different.
