SHEN LING BAI ZHU SAN / Health Concerns

Ginseng, Poria, and Atractylodes Formula

A Natural Herbal Supplement Supporting Normal Digestion *

This famous formula from the Imperial Grace Formulary of the TAI PING area, SHEN LING BAI ZHU SAN is used to Tonify the QI.  It's made by many different manufacturers, so you'll find a version in virtually any Chinese herb store.

SHEN LING BAI ZHU SAN is a Spleen QI tonic oriented to drain excess damp resulting from Spleen QI deficiency.  Most often this dampness is indicated by loose stool or diarrhea, but also on rare occasion for the symptom of excess salivation.

The chief herb in the formula is astragalus (HUANG QI), which strongly bolsters the QI and elevates the YANG of the Spleen and stomach.

In Formulas and Strategies, Dan Bensky and Randall Barolet, note that,

SHEN LING BAI ZHU SAN is the flagship formula of the famous text, Discussion of the Spleen and Stomach, and there are whole schools of practice based on this single formula.
