Ziziphi Jujubae (Da Zao)
DA ZAO is also known as Sour Date. It is sweet, warm,, and is used for the heart, spleen and stomach. It invigorates Qi, nourishes blood, calms the spirit, and harmonizes the middle-burner.
It is also used to reduce the harsh effects of other herbs.
Indications and Combinations for Using DA ZAO:
- For Spleen Deficiency symptoms such as fatigue, poor appetite, and loose stool.
- It is often used in combination with DANG SHEN, BAI ZHU, HUANG QI for Spleen Deficiency; with DANG GUI, SHU DI, and BAI SHAO for nourishing blood, and with FU XIAO MAI, and GAN CAO, to treat agitation caused by deficiency of blood.
- Like GAN CAO, It is often included in formulas to reduce the harsh side-effects of other herbs in a formula.
Dosage and Administration of DA ZAO
3-12 pieces of 10-15g.
